The Mission

Every time I read an Andrew Eldritch (Sisters Of Mercy) interview, there are inevitable, and even heavy accusations regarding Wayne Hussey (The Mission). Having worked at length with Hussey in The Mission, what is your opinion pertaining to this dispute?

MGT: I had a couple of drinks with Eldritch in Portugal fairly recently – around 10 months ago - as both the Sisters and Peter Murphy were staying at the same hotel and performing at the same festival, so we ended up at the hotel bar together.. I’m friends with Si Denbigh, Ben and Chris from the current SOM lineup..

Wayne has usually been fairly complimentary about Andrew as an artist in recent years, however it was obvious after chatting with Eldritch that he still has some bitterness towards Wayne and Craig (Adams) and what the Mission represent… I would have thought it would be all water under the bridge by now. I know Wayne is proud of his work on FALAA and would probably be open to performing with Andrew & SOM once again under the right circumstances.. but I imagine that Eldritch wouldn’t consider it.. shame really..

(06/10) Despite having split in 2008, The Mission returns with 'Dum Dum Bullet', a new compilation of rare B-sides, previously unreleased demos, new songs left over from the 'God is a Bullet' sessions and a brand-new extended remix of album cut "Dumb" by Mission guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite.

The 14-tracks album features six songs originally released as extra tracks on the deleted 'Keep it in the Family EP' and the 'Blush' digital single, both from 2007.
More intriguing to fans are seven tracks identified as new songs or Hussey demos (see full tracklist below) written during the 'God is a Bullet' sessions.
The comp wraps up with Thwaite's new seven-and-a-half-minute remix of 'Dumb'. Thwaite states that he "decontructed the studio version and recreated a dancefloor monster with new sounds, loops and additional guitars."

01 It don't matter anymore anyhow*
02 Refugee*
03 Room 22 (new song)
04 Chelsea Blue+
05 Acoustic Blush+
06 Thine+
07 So many things (new song)
08 Still deep Waters (instrumental, previously unreleased)
09 Katya's Lullaby (new song, Wayne Hussey demo)
10 Aquarius & Gemini (a cappella, previously unreleased)
11 The Earth You walk upon (new song)
12 Stranger in a foreign Land (new song, Wayne Hussey demo)
13 Blush Remodel+
14 Dumb (Dambusters 617 Squadron mix by Mark Gemini Thwaite - previously unreleased)

:???: Da ist ja durchaus wohlklingendes dabei?
Muss ich doch noch mal auf meine alten Tage in ein Fhe Miffn Album mit einem wirklich peinlich albernen Titel investieren? :icon_vollpanik: :patsch:
..könnte passieren.

Überraschung:
OK, so me and my big mouth let it out of the bag that we are thinking of playing some 25th Anniversary shows next year - September time possibly. But before we reach a final decision we, here at MWIS, thought we should poll some opinion from you.
Firstly, we are looking at playing 2 UK shows - one in London and one in Leeds along with some select cities in continental Europe. The shows will be all about nostalgia - nothing more, nothing less. No new songs, just songs that you, hopefully, have known and loved for many years.
Secondly, whilst we can't confirm the full line-up at this point I can tell you that I would be appearing alongside Simon Hinkler on guitar, Craig Adams on bass, and Mark Gemini Thwaite would be our special guest for some of the songs. I have seen and spoken with Mick Brown and, unfortunately, I have to tell you that Mick won't be performing with us. Shame, I know, but there it is. At present if this goes ahead we do have a vacant drummers seat that we will need to fill.
Anyway, my question to you is how would you feel about us playing these shows without Mick? I have read some of the comments previously posted on this forum and generally it's what I expected. But I did want to clarify for you where exactly we're at and I'd like your input.
Let us know, eh?
Cheers,
Wayne
